School's out! What next?

Math: Students have brought home summer math packets. There are 100 problems covering the entire fourth grade curriculum. The problems are organized by unit. Along with this packet, the fourth grade math journals, study guides, and unit assessments offer a comprehensive review of fourth grade math.

See the Homework page for links to the Summer Math Packet (Grade 4) along with the Answer Key.

There is no mandatory summer math work, but completing the summer math packet and reviewing / completing unfinished pages in the math journals are highly recommended. Research studies have shown that during the long summer break, students forget more math than any other subject, while spending some time every week reviewing math skills helps greatly in solidifying and maintaining these skills. We also strongly suggest that students continue to practice math fact recall and mental math skills. Look for opportunities to apply mental math skills in real life contexts.

The students are also encouraged to participate in the Fairfax County Libraries' summer reading program. Students brought home information in early June, and the information is also available on the Fairfax County Libraries' website.

Our fourth grade website will stay online indefinitely. Please refresh the Enrichment page occasionally, as there will be some updates with recommended interactive math sites.
